Research Interests
The research in my laboratory has been directed towards the understanding of mammalian spermatogenesis at the molecular level . We have concentrated our efforts on delineating the influence of the Sertoli cells on the process of germinal cell differentiation and maturation. Current projects focus on the characterization of the Follicle Stimulating Hormone Receptor gene promoter that is specificially expressed in Sertoli cells, and the use of spermatogonial transplantation to characterize Sertoli-germ cell interactions in vivo. In addition, projects involve the elucidation of the structure-function of clusterin, a major testis protein, and screens for novel testis genes. The projects span the disciplines from biochemistry to cell biology.
